Scripts π done
Over the last few months, I finished* and published the next eight scripts that will makeup this next season. I had prematurely announced Iβd finished them months prior, but during a reread after a breather I decided they relied on a narrator too much.
Actual Plays assume some degree of narration, but I had a lot of fun weaving the game Sisi and I played in and out of the world.
I am pretty happy with how the scripts shaped-up. This season, Iβm able to give actors the whole shebang rather than last seasonβs totally out-of-context dialogue, which should help contextualize scenes.
It even looks like a script, which, as a hobbyist, scratches an itch.
Characters, by the numbers
Nathan Lunsford (listen to The Storage Papers) gave me a script-as-spreadsheet template** to help me estimate The Thiefβs voice-acting budget by calculating lines and words per character.
Here is how season two shapes up. Squint to avoid the smallest of spoilers.
The script βemergedβ in Descript, but I moved and reformatted it into a word document not to only improve the castβs experience, but with the ulterior motive to publish the script through Amazon so The Thief can be published as an Audible audiobook.
But, the spreadsheet-script is really pretty elegant. My screenshot below doesnβt do it justice I murdered its elegant formatting, but you can see the programmatic beauty.
Casting
The Thief is casting, internally. Friends and supporting members of the fyrd are the first in line for paid roles. I went absolutely π ham on characters who help make the world feel immersible, and I think itβs a really fun opportunity to collaborate with cool aspiring actors.
If we exhaust the pool, Iβll reach out to you all, first - Symphonyβs whisper network.
Endnotes
* Well, βfinishedβ in scare quotes.
